The Perfect Demo Part I (Soloists and Bands)
Jan 5th, 2007, 5:35pm

Soloists, ensembles and bands must submit a video recording of some of their performances in order to apply for a job. Please visit http://www.oceanbound.ca/auditions/auditions.php.

All of the above-mentioned artists must show that they are able to entertain in as many different styles of music as possible. This includes, classical music (for soloists and string ensembles), country, jazz, big band, 50's & 60's, 70's disco, ballroom dance music (waltzes, tangos, cha chas, sambas, bossa novas, marches...)...

When recording your dvd, you don't necessarily have to play the entire song each time, you could fade out after about 40 seconds. This enables hiring specialists to review your demo faster. It is also a good idea to include chapters on your dvd so that one can quickly forward to the next song.

Note that submitting an audio CD is not enough and will not even be reviewed. We must receive video recordings only!

Now that you've shown that you can play in many different musical styles, you need to show that you have enough repertoire so that you don't have to repeat the same songs over and over. You'll do this by providing a repertoire list, preferably in electronic format so that we can forward it quickly to the cruise lines.

Finally, a short bio should be included. It's important to mention your previous experience. Keep in mind that it is always much smarter to try to impress with your playing rather then with your bio.

Good Luck.
